This year's meeting will be a joint meeting between the Tennessee Valley Chapter of the American Vacuum Society (AVS) and the Appalachian Regional Microscopy Society (AReMS).
We are meeting on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 4-5, 2018. Tutorials will be hosted on Thursday, Oct. 4th during the day, with our annual banquet in the evening. Our annual meeting with engaging speakers and student poster session will take place on Friday the 5th.
This year's meeting will take place in Knoxville, TN on the University of Tennessee's campus in the JIAM (Joint Institute for Advanced Materials) building. It is located on Osprey Vista Way. There is free parking adjacent to JIAM.
A full day of hands-on tutorials on Thursday, Oct. 4 is included in the regular conference fee. Tutorials will include data analytics for microscopy presented by Stephen Jesse (ORNL), Image analysis with open source software presented by Zach Russell (Ion Innovations), and Spectrum analysis presented by Gerd Duscher (UTK).
Confirmed speakers include Eric Vogel (Georgia Tech) and Numan Lannait (ORNL). Students are encouraged to present posters, and may click on the link above to submit an abstract.
